The Ovation AE128 2WFB Applause is one of the entry-level Ovation electro-acoustic models and uses many of the same components and desgn traits as the more upmarket models thereby offering exceptional value for money and Ovation's Applause models are a well established and popular range of bowl backed electro acoustic guitars. As I’ve stated many times certain budget models such as the Ovation Applause range offer far more in terms of construction, quality of materials used and playability than they ever have.
The Ovation AE128 2WFB has a stunning and unusual Waterfall Bubinga top with a highly buffed gloss finish. The bowl back is shallow and thinner than normal, more on this later. Nato is the wood of choice for the neck, topped off with a Rosewood fret board with white dot position markers. The back angled headstock is trademark Ovation and is home to 3 a side enclosed adjustable machine heads.
The bridge is a hassle free pin less design made of Rosewood whilst the guitar is powered by Ovations excellent OP-4B side mounted pre-amp and under saddle pick-up sensor. Despite the shallow bowl configuration the Ovation AE128 2WFB still manages to produce lush resonant tones and is adequately loud even when played acoustically, there is good balance between the individual strings whilst the dominant frequencies are the soft mid-range and upper range frequencies which give a subtle sparkle to the sound - particularly when amplified
